Swami Satyananda Saraswati
SATYANANDA YOGA® is a unique and integral system of yoga, created by world-renowned master Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Drawing from the essence of Tantra, Vedanta and Samkhya, this tradition offers an unparalleled yoga experience, and a means to practise and live yoga, according to individual needs.
Classes offered at The Chant Shack work from the authetic Satyananda model in a relaxed environment with only small numbers.

Swami Kriyavidya has been an accredited Satyananda Yoga teacher and lecturer with the Satyananda Yoga Academy for many years. She has established yoga centres, lived and taught in ashrams in many countries, with most of her time spent at Mangrove Yoga Ashram, and now comes full circle to her home town of Melbourne to offer simple, relaxed low key yoga for you, your friends and family...
All classes are accompanied by musician and composer, Sundardas Worthy who draws from the classic indian raga system, along with creating a contemporary soundscape perfect for the urban yogi.
Benefits of Yoga-
The main focus is on the multi layered aspects of our being, not on the asanas alone. Pranayama is an integral part of each class along with Satyananda Yoga Nidra which progessively relaxes the body and mind and eventually helps the consciousness to move beyond the mind. The awareness deepens through the practice of asanas while focusing on how the body feels from the inside.
An initial benefit is usually one of deep relaxation and a calmness and peace of mind. Alongside this, the asanas begin to work with the awareness of bodily tensions and how to release them. Over time there is an unravelling of the conditioning of the mind as we become aware of thought patterns. This 'self knowledge' allows us to move beyond the reactionary way of being, and begin to work towards a higher potential.
A physical benefit is that the body becomes stronger and leaner, general health improves and there is increased awareness of the body, breath and other internal energies. The main emphasis however is on inner awareness, a tool that takes yoga into our lives improving life on all levels.
